A Perfect Nebraska Weekend

We had a busy weekend! Hanging with Dad on the couch at home, our last sand volleyball game for the season (see you next year, O'Leaver's!), a family get-together at my parents' house, and a surprise 60th birthday party for our friend Laura's mother.

Dave Takes on Mt. Fuji...

...or at least he attempted to tackle some of the colorful drinks at Omaha's Mt. Fuji Inn on Friday night. A new baby requires letting loose sometimes, right?! Our friends, Matt and Taylor, joined us for the night out (and Liam slept peacefully in his car seat next to the table).

First Trip to KU

Liam made his first trip out of the state of Nebraska this past weekend! We decided that it would be in everyone's best interest if his first road trip was on the shorter side, so the 3.5 hours it takes to get to Lawrence, Kansas, from Omaha sounded perfect.

We stayed with our good friends Tim and Kyly; they have an adorable little boy named Anderson that was born in late November 2008 - I'm sure he and Liam will be partners in crime down the road! We also got to have lunch on Saturday at Free State with friends from Kansas City - Aaron, Megan and their cute little guy, Danny (born in February 2009). After lunch, we all walked down Jayhawk Boulevard with our strollers and took advantage of some photo ops:

We also attended the retirement Mass and BBQ for Monsignor Vince Krische at the St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center - it was nice to be able to participate in the festivities to celebrate Krische's achievements and wish him well in his retirement.

One Month Old Today!

Happy one month, Liam! At the suggestion of a friend, we'll be taking a picture of Liam on the 3rd of each month leading up to his one-year birthday along with a sign noting how many months old he is. Here's the first month montage!

Four Weeks Old

Four weeks have flown by since Liam was born...my little baby is going to be one month old on Monday!

Liam was weighed on Tuesday of this week, and he is up to 7 pounds 10 ounces - more than one pound bigger than he was at birth. It's funny to think that he is still smaller than a lot of our friends' babies at their birth!

Liam's First Bath

Liam's umbilical cord stump finally fell off this past weekend, so we went ahead and gave him a full-fledged bath last night. Fun times! I'm not sure if Liam was too crazy about the whole thing, but he didn't really cry...mostly just looked shocked and confused about what we were doing to him.

Our little guy makes us laugh all of the time - it's so much fun to see him explore and make sense of his new world!

Two Weeks Old!

Liam turned 2 weeks old on Friday - hard to believe he's already been with us for that long!

We took him to his two week appointment with the doctor, and not only did he pee all over the table while we were there (again - this also happened at the first appointment on July 8), but he surpassed his birth weight! Liam was up to 6 pounds 13 ounces on Friday, which was great news!
